She was just finishing up the second book of the Harry Potter series called Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. We quickly started a conversation about the book and some of her favorite parts. I was excited to see her reading and be able to talk about it. While talking about it, she revealed that she had never seen the movies so this adventure was very new to her. I had forgotten some of the little things that were going on in the story and thought to myself that maybe I should read the books along with her and then we would have some reading themes to discuss. So when she was ready to pick up book number three in the Harry Potter Series, I did too.
It has been quite a few years since I picked up the series, and I am so excited to give it a go once again. J.K. Rowling really has a very good grasp on her characters and a good sense of humor to keep the reading moving along. I am so glad that I picked up the book again. I knew how good the books were but I was amazed at how easily I was able to fall right back into the storyline again. I guess my geek-o-meter has just reached its ultimate high.
All I can say is that the books are still way better than the movies. I love the movies as well, but there is something about the written word that makes the story come to life. There’s nothing wrong with re-reading a book (so says me) you paid for them, so love them over and over again!
