I HAVE A GIFT.
I'M A MONSTER.
I'M MORE THAN HUMAN.
MY TOUCH IS LETHAL.
MY TOUCH IS POWER.
I AM THEIR WEAPON.
I WILL FIGHT BACK.
No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon. But Juliette has plans of her own. After a lifetime without freedom, she's finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time ~ and to find a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.
I have had this in my TBR folder forever, and while I don't read a lot of distopian genre books, as I am kind of hit and miss with them, I have heard great things about this series though and thought I would give it a go. I was not disappointed I really liked this book. Mafi has a very poetic style to her writing, she is very discriptive and creative with her words and I know don't judge a book by its cover and all that junk, but the cover art is gorgous very well done. My heart went out to Juliette from the very beginning, she has been isolated and afraid her whole life; She has never belong and has always been an outsider even within her own family, she has been made to feel broken and unworthy of attention or love. Locked away in an assylum for years she now wonders at her own sanity at times, she has been starved and neglected; Until one day Adam a boy from her childhood walks back into her life. She dreams of being that bird that can take flight and escape. She has a choice to make she can either be made into a weapon for the reestablishment or she can fight for her freedom and become a hero.

Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner's father, the Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son's mistakes, it's clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow.
Destroy me is a companion novella to Shatter Me told through the eyes of Warner. This is seriously a short story but its packed with a ton of punch. I spent the entire first novel of Shatter Me hating Warner, but I actually found myself feeling sorry for and empathisizing with Warner while reading this. He has lost himself in Juliette's journals, he is haunted by her words, the depth of the feelings she has poured into those pages. Warner feels a strange connection to Juliette, he understands her in a way that most don't, and he admires how she has kept her humanity intact even while being treated inhumanily herself. While I am still not a huge Warner fan I always like to see what makes people tick and he is a very interesting complex character, with a hell of a back story.
I gave this story a 4 out of 5 star rating.
time for war.
Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
Juliette is having a hard time adjusting to life at Omega Point, she doesn't get to see Adam enough because they are both expected to train, Adam is undergoing experiments, and it seems everyone including herself is keeping some kind of secret; Juliette tends to withdrawl into herself, and Kenji is entrusted with the responsibility of helping draw her out and train, to harness her abilities in which they are only just realizing the extent of. I really liked this book, it had a fast pace tons of action and angst, I liked how Juliette is finally starting to come into herself a bit more gaining a small amount of confidence, she is starting to realize that she doesn't need to be afraid of her abilities she needs to harness and embrace them. I don't want to add spoillers here but I was pleasantly shocked and suprised by some of the revealtions in this installment; characters I thought I hated I am starting to reconsider my view point.

On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor—but taking down Warner, Adam's newly discovered half brother, won't be that easy. The Reestablishment can't tolerate a rebellion, and they'll do anything to crush the resistance . . . including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about.
This is a short companion novella from Adam's point of view this time, comming in during the same time as Unravel Me, I love looking at different perspectives from characters of the same book, I find it makes you see the characters in a whole new light; which this certainly did for me. I have loved Adam from day one, I always thought he felt just as strongly for Juliette as she does for him, but through his eyes you are able to see more of his flaws, where with Juliette's point of view you just see how perfect she thinks he is. Putting people on a pedistal is dangerous buisness, and Adam fell hard from the top for me, He views her a weak, as a liability, someone else that he is responsible for. Do I think he care for her the answer is yes, but he is also scared of her, and wonders if its all worth it. I really enjoyed the revelations in this piece it made me change my point of view on a lot of the characters. Please don't be mad for saying it but I have much more respect for Warner now, and I like his character much more now that I have seen the other points of view. I guess like most girls I love a bad boy. I liked this book a lot but not as much as the other three, I found Adam was starting to get on my nerves a touch.

Ok all I can say is wow ! What an awesome conclusion to this series. Mafi wrapped this up in such a way that everyone I think can be happy with the final installment. I originally felt bad about jumping ship from team Adam and went to team Warner but not anymore. He is such a complex character I loved him to pieces. Adam was such a dirt bag ( I am totally cleaning it up from what I would like to say cause there would be a lot of explatives ) Juliette survived her attack from the supreme one and Warner has brought her to the base to recover and to help her form a plan to take down his father. When Juliette goes to back to survey the damage she runs into Kenji, and learns that Adam, James and a few other friends survived the attack. When Adam learns that Juliette is alive but kinda with Warner he becomes angry, and sullen he is mean and spiteful towards Juliette (its not pretty) She invites the group back to the base so they can train and formulate a plan of attack. This book is all about Juliette getting her crap together and harnessing her powers and knowing who she is so she can go out there and eliminate the re-establishment and lead these people to a new and better place. I love Kenji and some of Juliette and Kenji's conversations they are sarcastic and at times laugh out loud funny in a complicated and at times devistating situation, when lives are at stake. I can't wait to see what Tahereh Mafi comes up with next.
I gave this a 4 out of 5 star review.
