I am not normally a fan of Zombie novels the idea of the undead reanimated and a possible Zombie apocalypse is truly unsettling to me, yet I have no problem with ghosts, vampires, or werewolves go figure? I can’t even begin to justify my own logic so I won’t even try it is way too complicated and to be honest I don’t understand it myself.
I started this book originally a couple of weeks ago, although this episode isn’t long about a 165 ish pages I had a hard time getting started, that said it was back to school week and it was a bit hectic here. I kept picking it up and putting it down and picking it up again. Today I had a little extra time so I was determined to finish this episode. The story takes place in a post apocalyptic society; a good portion of the world population was infected by a virus that resulted in a wave of zombies. The government has now contained the problem and now there are very few outbreaks. People are now serviced to the government for a minimum of three years after they die, in a way to control the zombie population, they are put to work, either through an assortment of duties either by civil service, military or through the Gameland owned by Arc Properties a virtual reality game that pits the undead against one another in a high priced violent game. Jessie and her group of friends are hackers and are trying to break into the Gameland and get a look at the deserted area and maybe get a glimpse of the undead. But breaking into Gameland is a lot easier than they thought it would be a lot easier than they thought it should have been. That should have been their first clue.
I didn’t think I was going to like this book, its not normally my thing, other than a few little minor things like the use of some of their teenage slang, I found myself growing to like it, I found the idea of a group of kids finding a way into a restricted area with so little prep work a little appalling but then again I remembered this is an eight episode series and all will be revealed and everything is not as they seem. I have theories though I haven’t read the rest of the episodes yet I’m intrigued enough that I will read the remaining seven episodes, I hate not knowing how something ends.
I gave it a 3 out of 5 star rating tentative on reading the rest of the episodes, I’m not sure if the slow start I was having was just me or the story itself how it began. I think I want to reserve judgment and continue this review as a whole installment.
