Sold into slavery, Tera, a budding healer is thrust into the savage realm of barbarian warlords, the same realm which claimed her mother years ago. She must avoid the displeasure of her warrior lord and survive the cruelties of the concubines, even as war threatens on the horizon.
Yet a greater danger looms when she catches the eye of the most powerful lord of the land and he takes her for his Pleasure Hall. Tera struggles to escape, while searching for the secret behind her mother’s death. But what she discovers challenges everything she believes in. A path set long ago beckons. A path that could lead to triumph, or the destruction of her world.
Taken from her home and sold as a slave, Terra is a young girl coming to terms with her mothers death, while impatiently waiting for her healing powers to come to her. Terra is determined to stay strong in her faith and escape. This was a very well written story, I liked the character development and the way it progressed. You can tell by the way its written and the way some characters are placed that the will feature later on in the series. The love story aspect of the book could have used a little work in my opinion but over all it was a good read, I enjoyed the flow and the narrative of the story. I have had a hard time getting into my 2BR book list lately as I have had company, and have had a hard time being able to pick up a book for any significant length of time. So when I did have time I was able to graze through this book slowly. While normally I would have had a book like this finished in a day, which may have affected my rating of it as not everything is fresh and in my head, and too many distractions.
I gave this book a 3 out of 5 stars
